GENERAL CARE

The fabrics we use are an important part of who we are, including its origin, touch and feel and how wonderfully they show our vibrant prints and colours you love. All of our fabrics are carefully chosen to have minimal impact on our planet as well as be the best choice for quality and wearability for you. Here are some little tips on how to love and care for your piece:

Help sustain our environment and avoid unnecessary washing and save water by opting to re-fresh your piece after wear by letting it hang in some fresh air, (perfect for lightweight silks) or steam the garment before re-wearing.

Although we use a industry standard steamer at our HQ we would recommend investing into a small handheld, travel steamers. These are very affordable & easily accessible.

If you don’t own a steamer, hang your MLM piece in the bathroom while showering, the hot steam will re-fresh your garment and help remove unwanted wrinkles. Otherwise your local drycleaner should be able to steam your gown prior to your special event.

To maintain longevity and colour vibrancy we recommend to dry clean your garments only when nessesary.

Immediately spot clean with cool water to treat most spoils, especially for your silks.

That Static question?... Although this is rare - it can happen in dry environments. Don't waste your money on anti-static spray – we suggest adding 100% water or natural linen refresher to a small travel spray bottle for your handbag – this will rid your static and not harm your fabric (or skin!)…

FABRIC CARE

We have worked with fabrics for nearly 20 years and this is what care we recommend for each fabric type.

Silk & Viscose – Dry Clean is the first and foremost preferable care – however our silk, is washable and can endure a very gentle and cool hand wash with a mild detergent and air dry. Steam garment to de-crease. Do tumble dry. Do not Iron.

For a sustainable and long-lasting life of your silk – we recommend to refresh by steaming, air drying and you are also able to spray with antibacterial natural linen refreshers which are silk friendly. (we use the 'Bondi Wash' mist spray here at MLM.

Silk is one of the strongest natural fibres made. So will last a lifetime with love & care.

Rayon – Hand wash recommended – using a mild detergent to avoid shrinkage and colour damage. Air dry. Do not tumble dry. If ironing is required, a warm iron using a protective cloth is necessary.

Our rayons are hand printed or dyed so certainly do not soak or bleach.

Cotton + Linen – Gentle cool hand wash, do not soak, do not bleach. Flat air dry out of sun. warm iron. Steamer is recommended to anti crease and soften any dry fabric. Avoid Tumble drying, this method has potential to shrink fabric. It will also break down fibres quicker, and shorten the lifespan of your garment.

Do not soak or bleach. If using spot treatments, test for colour fastness first.

Knits – Our knits are hand-made so keep it simple – cool hand wash and flat dry away from the sun. Do not soak, bleach or tumble dry.

Vintage Wash Cottons - (our tees) Our vintage cotton has already been pre-treated for you – there could be minor differences between gradient in fabrics as this a effect of the stone wash. Gentle warm wash. Air dry out of the sun. Do not soak or bleach.

Lastly for those items safe to warm wash, always use a protective laundry bag, this will help protect buttons and straps from catching into other parts of the garment or their neighbour.
