A quick catch up with #MLMGIRL Tash Sefton after fashion week. Read her take on Australian style and big trends for this year.
After the most recent fashion week in Sydney, how would you best describe Australian Fashion and how it stands out from the rest of the world?
TASH: I love how Australian fashion really embraces our incredible lifestyle. Fashion here is very wearable and suits our casual laid back style, but has a sophistication to it. The designers I think really embrace colour pallets which work so beautifully with our back drop and use wearable fabrics and textures. There is an Australian-ness about how girls dress here that is like no other place in the world. And I really love 'our off duty coolness’, 'understated effortless’ and ‘chic casual vibes’ really push through in a world of OTT and excess.
What are your top wardrobe essentials?
TASH: I don't think there is an essential list at the moment, but it's more about how you dress. I love colour blocking head to toe (yes including shoes) and wearing clothes you have owned for years and re styling them in a modern way. Laying new with old is a great way to be 'conscious' about your wardrobe.
How do you prepare for Fashion Week?
TASH: I used to plan everything out weeks in advance, but this time I just got dressed from my wardrobe. For me its work and supporting the designers and not about me, so just dressed like I would for work.
Your top trends for this year?
TASH: From MBFWA lots of beautiful neutral earthy tones are still important, colour blocking eg: beige on beige, statement details like big puffy sleeves, back details or oversized silhouettes. A hint of neon mixed back with neutrals…I'm still digesting everything!
